SOC 4230 - Technologies of Sex and Gender (3) Credit Hours
Synthesizing and applying sociological theories of technology, gender, and sexualities, this course explores how gender and sexuality are shaped by technology and science, affecting individual, group, and institutional norms, behaviors and processes. Salient topics such as digitized intimacy, gendered and sexual technoscience, and application of Artificial Intelligence to gendered processes will be examined through contemporary empirical research. Fall or Spring semester. Prerequisites: SOC 1510 , SOC 2230 , ANTH 1100 , or WGSS 2000 or Department Head approval. May be registered as SOC 4230 or WGSS 4230.
